In this photo you see Bradbury cheering as he realized he had won the gold medal
In the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in the year of 2002, Steven Bradbury made definite history.
Bradbury was in his gold medal race. He was doing not so well, and had evidently had been 15m behind the rest of the competitors. Suddenly, there had been a pile up. On the last quarter, all four of the other racers had collided in the corner, with about 50m to go. The fact that he had been so far away had helped him avoid the collision and skate his way to victory with a gold medal. This was Australia's first ever gold medal in short track. In a interview, Bradbury stated that he had known the collision was going to take place. He said that the competitors were too close, and one skater tried to pass another at the wrong time.
